Tom Walton is an Iowa attorney with more than three decades of legal experience as a trial lawyer, civic leader, and General Counsel for an Iowa-based nonprofit organization. A graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law, where he graduated among the top ten students in his class, Walton has practiced extensively in litigation, public policy, administrative law, and governance matters. He previously practiced with one of Iowa’s largest independent law firms and has been appointed by governors of both political parties to and held leadership roles on Iowa boards and commissions focused on criminal justice and public safety.

Walton was a Democratic primary candidate for Iowa House District 28, is immediate past Chair of the Dallas County Democrats, and is the Democratic nominee for Iowa House District 28 this year. Walton lives near Van Meter with his wife Lori, a speech-language pathologist. They have two children. He is a longtime advocate for civic engagement, public education, constitutional government, and the rule of law.
